Hand to hold: Weber State spirit squad lifts young cancer patient
OGDEN – The spirit squad at Weber State has already established its national prowess, but its latest mark is most felt by a 9-year-old cancer patient from West Valley City. Weber State graduate student Johanna Simon and Kara Oliver, battling Ewing sarcoma, a rare, aggressive form of bone cancer primarily afflicting children and young teens, were named top-5 finalists for the 2026 "Teammate of the Year" award presented by Team Impact.
