LAYTON — Threatening to bomb Davis Hospital and Medical Center because of a long wait in the emergency room has landed an 18-year-old in jail.
Steven Allen Child was arrested late Friday night by Layton police in the hospital’s parking lot after he wrote threatening messages on the back of comment cards in the emergency waiting room, said Police Lt. Garret Atkin.
Child was booked in Davis County Jail and is being held on $5,000 bail.
The Davis County Attorney’s Office on Monday filed charges against Child of third-degree felony attempted terroristic threat and a class B misdemeanor attempted theft by extortion.
Atkins said Child “was upset with the ER for how long it was taking to see his aunt.
“He wrote threats on the back of comment cards, including one that said something like, ‘put the money in a bag or I’ll blow up the hospital.’ ”
Hospital personnel called police after finding the notes, Atkin said.
