Neighbors feel safer with crime center, blimp

Your assertion that The Mayor and The Police Chief are doing too much to fight crime in Ogden is preposterous and destructive to the the future of our city. You are laying the groundwork to encourage and compel the next Mayor to reduce the gains we have made in lowering Ogdens crime rate. The blimp will cost a whole $2,000 per year to run? I could pass the hat an collect that money in one day in Ogden. And if the blimp stops even 1 crime it will save money for Ogden. It would be far more expensive investigating and prosecuting that 1 crime than the entire cost of the Blimp and its operation. The camera center is a no-brainer in terms of being an effective crime fighting idea, but there you go again.

I have lived in the most crime ridden parts of Los Angeles and Chicago, I have worked in the roughest inner cities around the nation from Baltimore, to Oakland to Inglewood. All of them did not do the things we are doing here in Ogden. They are trying some of them now but it is far too late in the game to have any effect. These cities have and have had people in charge who are lost in a fantasy world of hypothetical constitutional issues and total lack of street knowledge. Meanwhile children can not get a good education because the schools and streets are crime ridden cesspools because the "leaders" refuse to implement policies that will provide a safe place to grow up and get an education.

I suggest you talk to the people that live in the areas that the blimp will be patrolling, central Ogden and ask them if they feel safer with it out there. I guarantee you they will, I am one of those people and I know from my years of experience, my community feels the same. The people who live up on the hill and look down from on high are out of touch and have no idea, outside of movies and social theory classes they took in college years ago, what life in the inner city is like. If you do not know and have not lived it you need to keep your opinions to yourself and allow us to have a safer and more stable community. The gang injunction has been very effective and I am sure you are against that also.

So when you write your opinion piece on why Ogdens schools have so many problems and kids do not learn and crime is on the rise, look in the mirror at the guilty party. But at least you can sell more papers with "if it bleeds it leads" headlines you so love to run.
