FRUIT HEIGHTS — Leaving purses in plain sight inside cars is a temptation even when the cars are parked at a church, deputies said.
Three women discovered their purses had been swiped out of their cars on Sunday during church services, said Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen.
The cars were parked at a church building owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 77 N. Frontage Road, Fruit Heights. The purses disappeared sometime between 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Two of the cars were forced open, while one car was unlocked.
No other cars were burglarized, Poulsen said.
"These were in plain view, a crime of opportunity," Poulsen said.
The case is still being investigated.STORY:201210230044Purse thief strikes lDS Church service/frontpage/2012/10/23/Purse-thief-strikes-lDS-Church-service.html-1
