1. Name some of the qualifications you possess that makes you the best choice to represent your city?
Living in South Ogden for 53 of my 62 years. Working for South Ogden Fire Department for 26 years, as a Volunteer and then part time. Working with the City Officials and all of the Employees at one time or another. Most important is working with the fine people of the City in some of their most stressful situations. Doing both Fire calls and Medical responses I got to hear how the people felt about the city and the leaders that gave me the background of who could help the citizens in different situations.
2. What political ideals and philosophies guide your decision-making process?
The motivation in my ideals has come from my family friends and the people that I have worked with over the last 44 years. My decisions are usually based on studying and understanding a particular subject. Once understood then working to make it a reality and to the betterment of those that it applies.
3. What is the most important issue facing your city?
That is Taxation as it is all over our Country. Ours is a bit different in that our property taxes are being increased for the enlargement of South Ogden Jr. High School Gymnasium. There needs to be more emphasis on our Children's Programs, Police Presents and Fire Protection and other items that involve the Citizens (All Ages) and their money.
4. Name some qualities that you possess that make you a good team worker and able to bring consensus among city leaders.
I am a good Listener and like to get involved in understanding those Problems that Will and Do come up and sticking to the Problem until it solved. Knowing how to read people and being there with suggestions and solutions to help the People and myself work for the better of South Ogden City and the Leaders that make the final decisions.
5. What do you think will be some major issues your city will face a generation from now?
Some of the very same as now with Taxation still in the main focus and maybe even in a much grander scale. We must work towards a closer city government and more united people. There is going to be less property to develop and more people to house. Less commercial area and less money coming in to absorb the taxes we will have to pay. Now and in the future we need to keep services and quality in all of the Programs and Departments throughout all of South Ogden.
