Don't let thieves get away with it

These days, the things we own tend to be very valuable. Whether it's your brand new phone or iPod touch, the more valuable your belongings are the more likely you are to have them stolen if you don't take the right precautions.

Being robbed leaves most people feeling violated and angry. I experienced these feelings when I had some things stolen last fall. I had my iPod touch that I had cherished for two years, all the money in my wallet, and my brand new expensive cell phone all stolen from me while I was playing a volleyball game in Salt Lake City.

Conversations with homeless teens an eye-opening experience

Many of us are in the midst of another busy Christmas season. We are busy decorating, planning parties, buying gifts and so forth. But how many of us teenagers stop to think about those less fortunate than ourselves and really appreciate what we have?

ODT's 'Thriller': You've never seen zombies so alive

Odyssey Dance Theater's "Thriller" is already in its 15th year as a truly "thrilling" Halloween-themed dance production.

Before the show even starts there are zombies walking around, setting up an eerie and exciting atmosphere prior to the performance at Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City. Suddenly the lights go off, Michael Jackson's "Thriller" comes on and the crowd cheers with anticipation for a Halloween celebration like no other.

As they're dancing to "Thriller," you have never seen zombies so alive. This number was so fun and energetic it made you wonder how the show could possibly get better. With this electrifying performance, the audience was hooked and ready for some more monster fun. Then, in between numbers, out came the very random Bubbles the Clown. Bubble's performance was comical and had great crowd interaction.

Is that friendship true or temporary? Find out

As we grow up, we meet so many different people throughout our lives. Sometimes you meet people you think will always be a part of your life, people you consider friends. But being teenagers it seems as if our friends change constantly.

Sometimes it gets confusing trying to tell who is going to stick around and who’s going to bail when things get tough. So how do you tell a true friend from a phony? Here are eight key things that are found in a true friendship.

1 A true friend will have a positive impact in your life. People that bring you down, whether it’s academically or socially, are phonies. A true friend will encourage you to keep trying when you feel like giving up. He or she will cheer you up when you’re sad and remind you to appreciate the little things, such as laughter.

2 A true friend knows your boundaries. People that pressure you to do things you don’t want to do are phonies. A true friend will understand your boundaries and respect them even if theirs are different from yours.
