The Humane Society of Northern Utah is collecting much-needed items for local animal shelters and is asking the public for help.
Collection boxes are at Petco and The Little Dog House in Harrisville, John Watson Chevrolet in Ogden and Coldwater Animal Hospital in North Ogden.
Items needed for dogs are treats, toys that are durable/washable, large stainless steel food bowls, Martingale collars of all sizes for dog-walking, leashes, dog shampoo and conditioner.
Items needed for cats are bath-size towels, kitten food, kitten replacement milk, cat toys, small nonflip stainless steel food and water bowls, small plastic litter pans, nonclumping litter and cat kennel comforter scratching boards.
General supplies needed for the shelters are laundry detergent, dish detergent, hand sanitizers, dust pans, hand brooms and brushes, lint rollers and refills, facial tissue, bleach, gift cards to Target, Walmart, Petco, Shopko and PetSmart. The boxes will be picked up Dec. 19 for delivery.
