OGDEN -- An Ogden man has been arrested after police say he had a 10-year sexual relationship with a girl that began when she was 8.
Alex Pacheco Sr., 49, was booked into Weber County Jail on suspicion of two counts of rape of a child, two counts of sodomy of a child, and one count of rape, all first-degree felonies.
Police Lt. Scott Conley said the department was contacted by a law enforcement agency in Texas after the girl, now 21, told authorities there about the abuse that occurred when she was living in Ogden.
"She moved to Texas, and indicated while she was residing in Ogden, between 8 to 18 years of age, sexual abuse had taken place," Conley said.
Conley said the girl indicated the sexual abuse was continuous throughout the 10 years that she was acquainted with Pacheco while living in Ogden.
The girl told police in Texas that Pacheco had impregnated her during that time. She told her mother about the abuse after they had moved to Texas and that Pacheco had fathered the child.
Texas authorities took DNA from both the girl and her 4-year-old child.
On Dec. 27, Conley said police obtained a search warrant to gather DNA from Pacheco. The DNA swab was sent to a lab in Salt Lake City, and on Monday, it was confirmed with 99.99 percent accuracy that Pacheco did father the child.
He was taken into custody and booked Thursday.
Conley said Pacheco has never made a statement of involvement in the relationship.
